SAN DIEGO – The Aztecs (14-14, 8-9) finish the regular season at Air Force (16-12, 10-7) Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. PT. With a win, SDSU will be the sixth or seventh seed in this weekend's Mountain West Tournament. With a loss, the Aztecs will be the seventh or eighth seed. Final seedings and the bracket will be revealed following all conference contests Wednesday evening.
 
Aztec Tidbits
• SDSU split their road trip last week, completing a season sweep of Colorado State Thursday with a 69-61 win in Fort Collins and then falling at Wyoming 70-46 Saturday.
• With a win Wednesday, SDSU will have its highest single season win total since the 2012-13 season.
• SDSU averages just 13.0 turnovers per game, their fewest per game in school history. The Aztecs also have their second-best assist-to-turnover ratio (0.93) in the Mountain West era.
• The Aztecs have four players averaging double-digit points: Sophia Ramos (14.9), Asia Avinger (11.9), Mallory Adams (10.7) & Mercedes Staples (10.4). This is just the second time in the Mountain West era (1999-present) that the Aztecs have had four players averaging 10 or more points.
• Sophia Ramos (San Antonio, Texas) surpassed 1,500 career points at Wyoming on Saturday, moving past former Aztec greats Courtney Clements and Jené Morris and into fifth place on the SDSU all-time scoring list.
• Ramos is the only Aztec to ever have 1,500 points, 500 rebounds and 400 assists in her career. She is currently in the top 10 in program history in seven statistical categories, including points (5th), assists (6th), made threes (6th), made free throws (7th) and three-point percentage (10th).
• Ramos is one of three active four-year players with career totals of at least 1,500 points, 500 rebounds, 400 assists and 150 steals (Ohio's Erica Johnson & Florida's Kiara Smith).
• Mallory Adams (Frisco, Texas) is shooting 39.2 percent from three in conference play while making 2.5 per game, both are the second most in the Mountain West.
• Adams has over 850 points & 500 rebounds in her career and her 14 career double-doubles are the second most in the Mountain West.
• Asia Avinger (Cerritos, Calif.) is one of four freshmen in the nation to average at least 11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. (Notre Dame's Olivia Miles, USC Upstate's Rachael Rose & Pacific's Anaya James). Avinger leads all Mountain West freshmen in scoring and assists.
• Mercedes Staples (Centerville, Utah) is 14-for-21 (.667) from the field and 6-for-8 (.750) from three over her last three games.
• SDSU has three active players in the top 10 all-time in career three-point percentage. Mercedes Staples is second at 38.2 percent (65-170), Isabela Hernandez is fifth (35.9%, 62-170) and Sophia Ramos is 10th (35.3%, 151-428).
• The Aztecs are 10-3 when they shoot at least 40 percent from the floor and 9-2 when they out-assist their opponent.
• SDSU finished their home schedule 10-5, their most home wins and best home winning percentage since the 2012-13 season.
 
Mountain West Seeding Possibilities
• The Aztecs enter Wednesday with an 8-9 record in the Mountain West and in seventh place.
• With a SDSU win at Air Force and a Colorado State (9-8) loss at Wyoming (10-6), the Aztecs will be the No. 6 seed and play No. 11 San Jose State Sunday at 7 p.m.
• If SDSU wins and Colorado State wins at Wyoming, CSU will be No. 6 seed and the Aztecs will be the No. 7 seed and play the No. 10 seed, either Boise State (4-13) or Utah State (4-13) Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
• If SDSU loses and Fresno State (7-9) loses at Utah State, the Aztecs will be the No. 7 seed.
• If the Aztecs lose and Fresno State wins at Utah State, SDSU will be the No. 8 seed and play the No. 9 seed either Boise State or Utah State Sunday at 2 p.m.
• Mountain West Tournament seedings and the bracket will be released Wednesday evening once all the conference games are completed. Seeds 3-10 are up in the air entering Wednesday.
 
Opponent Notebook (Air Force)
• The Falcons are 16-12 overall and 10-7 in the Mountain West.
• They are in fifth place in the conference and have clinched a first round bye in the Mountain West Tournament.
• They are 10-4 at home.
• They lost at Fresno State 75-67 last Saturday, but prior to that they won three games in a row.
• They lead the Mountain West in six defensive categories, including scoring defense (58.4) and turnovers forced per game (20.5).
• They are second to last in the conference in scoring, averaging 61.8 points per game.
• Riley Snyder leads the Falcons with 15.3 points per game. She makes a living at the line, where she is 75-for-84 on the year (.893), 10th in the nation.
• Haley Jones averages 9.2 rebounds per game, the second most in the conference. Her 4.4 offensive rebounds per game are the eighth most in the nation.
• Cierra Winters averages 2.7 steals per game, tops in the Mountain West and 20th in the nation.
• Head coach Chris Gobrecht (7th season) has over 40 years of collegiate head coaching experience and over 600 wins. She has been a head coach at Cal State Fullerton (1979-85), Washington (1985-96), Florida State (1996-97), USC (1997-04) and Yale (2005-2015) before coming to the Academy.
 
Air Force Series Notes
• The Aztecs lead the all-time series 37-14 but are just 3-7 in the last 10 meetings.
• The Falcons have won four of the last five games and the last three meetings, their longest win streak in the all-time series
• SDSU is 16-6 all-time against the Falcons in Colorado Springs.
• The last six meetings have been in San Diego or in Las Vegas. The Aztecs last true road game against Air Force was Jan. 30, 2019, a 77-65 Air Force win.
• Neither team has topped 60 points in their last five meetings. The average score over that span is 55.6-51.4 Air Force.
• Their first meeting was Jan. 1, 1997, a 70-41 Aztec win. SDSU won 13 of the first 14 meetings.
