Lechuga Gonzalez Wins 3-Meter Event At NAU

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – For the second time in as many days San Diego State diver Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez won the day's competition at the Lumberjack Invitational at Wall Aquatic Center on the campus of Northern Arizona University. On Friday the senior won the 1-meter event and backed that up on Saturday with a victory in the 3-meter competition.
 
Three Aztecs recorded Zone E Championships qualifying scores, led by the native of Tijuana, Mexico's 352.05 to take the entire competition. In addition, Valentina Lopez Arevalo and Emma Duggan passed the standard for this year's Zone E Championships, which on the 3-mter board is a score of 280.
 
Lopez Arevalo, who finished in third place for the second day in a row, had already qualified for the Zone E Championship with a 288.38 last week against San Diego, but in Flagstaff improved on that score to set a new collegiate best in the event with a 314.60.
 
Likewise, Duggan had already qualified for the Zone E Championship last week with a collegiate best score of 301.13 against San Diego. On Saturday her 285.75 in the final was good for seventh place.
 
Gillian Garcia and Lexi Letts also qualified for the final at NAU and finished in 11th and 14th places, respectively. Garcia totaled 262.65, while Letts posted a 252.50.
 
Jules Harrison came up just shy of making the final. She totaled 241.10 in the prelim just outside the cutoff for the top 18, which was set at 242.50.
 
Gina Cazares scored 236.05, Summer Westmoreland finished with a 232.45, and Olivia Zamudio compiled a score of 218.60.
 
The meet wraps up on Sunday with the platform competition. The prelims are scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. MT with the finals set to begin approximately 15 minutes after the conclusion of the prelims. Fans can follow the action on www.DiveMeets.com.
