SAN DIEGO – The Aztec women's basketball team (13-13, 7-8) finishes their regular season with three road games, beginning this week with games at Colorado State (18-7, 9-6) Thursday and Wyoming (12-11, 8-6) Saturday. The Aztecs are seventh in the Mountain West standings, right behind Wyoming (6th) and Colorado State (T-5th).
 
Aztec Tidbits
• SDSU beat Fresno State 77-69 last Saturday, shooting a season-high 50.8 percent from the field. Mercedes Staples tied a season-high with 21 points on 8-for-10 shooting (5-6 from three).
• The Aztecs finished their home schedule with a 10-5 record, their most home wins and best home winning percentage since the 2012-13 season.
• SDSU has four players averaging double-digit points: Sophia Ramos (14.9), Asia Avinger (12.0), Mallory Adams (10.9) & Mercedes Staples (10.7). This is just the second time in the Mountain West era (1999-present) that the Aztecs have had four players averaging 10 or more points.
• The Aztecs are averaging 33.3 points in the paint over their last six games after averaging 23.3 in their first 20 games.
• SDSU is 13-13 on the year and their total score is 1,656-1,656.
• Ramos (San Antonio, Texas) is one of four active four-year players with career totals of at least 1,400 points, 500 rebounds, 350 assists and 150 steals (Northwestern's Veronica Burton, Ohio's Erica Johnson & Florida's Kiara Smith).
• Ramos is currently in the top 10 in program history in seven statistical categories, including assists (6th), made threes (6th), made free throws (T-7th) and points (7th) and three-point percentage (10th).
• Ramos is second in the conference in steals per game (2.1) and minutes per game (37.2) and third in made threes (52). She is in the top 100 nationally in five statistical categories.
• Adams has over 800 points & 500 rebounds in her career and has the second most career double-doubles in the MW (14).
• Asia Avinger (Cerritos, Calif.) is one of three freshmen in the nation to average at least 12.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. (Notre Dame's Olivia Miles & Pacific's Anaya James). Avinger leads all Mountain West freshmen in scoring and assists.
• SDSU has three active players in the top 10 all-time in career three-point percentage. Mercedes Staples (Centerville, Utah) is fourth at 36.2 percent (59-163), Isabela Hernandez is sixth (35.9%, 60-167) and Sophia Ramos is 10th (35.1%, 148-422).
• The Aztecs are 9-3 when they shoot at least 40 percent from the floor and 9-2 when they out-assist their opponent.
• With their next win, SDSU will match its highest single-season total since the 2012-13 season.
 
Opponent Notebook (Colorado State)
• The Rams are 18-8 on the year and 9-6 in the Mountain West, tied for fourth with Air Force.
• They won their last four games, including a 62-55 win at third place Nevada on Sunday.
• They are 11-3 at home.
• The Rams commit the fewest turnovers (9.9) and fouls (11.3) per game in the nation.
• They are also top 15 in the nation in defensive rebounds per game (5th, 30.8), assist-to-turnover ratio (5th, 1.47) and free throw percentage (13th, 78.0%).
• They are last in the conference in steals per game (4.9).
• McKenna Hofschild is second in the conference in scoring (16.4 ppg) and first in assists (6.6). Her assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.04 is the fifth-best in the nation
• Upe Atosu (12.2) averages 15.1 points per game.
• Atosu and Kendyll Kinzer make 2.08 threes per game, tied for the second-most in the conference.
• Karly Murphy averages 11.2 points and a team-high 9.0 rebounds per game, third in the MW.
• Head coach Ryun Williams (10th season) is the winningest coach in program history and is a two-time Mountain West Coach of the Year.
 
Series Notes
• The all-time series is tied 31-31.
• The Aztecs are 11-18 against the Rams in Fort Collins.
• SDSU beat the Rams 73-63 on Jan. 3 behind 24 points from Asia Avinger. Mallory Adams had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
• Colorado State has won 13 of the last 17 meetings.
• Two of the last four meetings have gone to overtime.
• Their first meeting also went to overtime, a 73-69 CSU win Feb. 28, 1991. The Aztecs then won the next 10 matchups.
 
Opponent Notebook (Wyoming)
• The Cowgirls are 12-11 on the year and 8-6 in conference, just 1.5 games ahead of the Aztecs.
• They have won four of their last five games.

• They commit 11.4 fouls per game, the third fewest in the nation.
• They allow 58.7 points per game, the second fewest in the conference.
• Tommi Olsen has the seventh-best assist-to-turnover ratio in the country (2.88).
• McKinley Bradshaw leads the team with 14.6 points per game.
• Allyson Fertig averages 7.8 rebounds per game, 4.0 of which are offensive.
• Head coach Gerald Mattison is in his third season as head coach, but was on the Wyoming staff for 16 years before being elevated to head coach duties.
