SAN DIEGO – The Aztecs (11-13, 5-8) host San Jose State (4-19, 1-11) Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. PT.
 
Aztec Tidbits
• This will be SDSU's second to lost home game of the year. They close out their home schedule on Saturday when they host Fresno State at 1 p.m. Six seniors will be honored before the game.
• SDSU lost at first place UNLV 76-67 last Saturday. Sophia Ramos (18) and Mallory Adams (14) each scored in double-digits.
• The Aztecs had a season-high 42 points in the paint at UNLV last Saturday.
• SDSU has four players averaging 10 points or more: Ramos (15.1), Avinger (11.8), Adams (10.8) & Staples (10.3). All four have scored 20 or more points in a game, making this season the first since 2017-18 that at least four players have scored 20 or more.
• Sophia Ramos (San Antonio, Texas) has scored in double-digits in all but two games this season and has scored 20 or more points in three of her last five games, averaging 20.8 points and 4.2 assists per game in that span.
• Ramos is one of three active four-year players with career totals of at least 1,400 points, 500 rebounds, 350 assists and 150 steals (Ohio's Erica Johnson & Florida's Kiara Smith).
• Ramos is currently in the top 10 in program history in seven statistical categories, including assists (6th), made threes (6th), made free throws (7th) and points (7th) and three-point percentage (10th).
• Ramos is second in the conference in steals per game (2.1) and minutes per game (37.2) and third in made threes (48). She is in the top 100 nationally in six statistical categories.
• Mallory Adams (Frisco, Texas) is averaging 13.7 points and 8.1 rebounds in conference games and making 2.7 three-pointers per game, the second most in the Mountain West.
• Adams has the second most career double-doubles in the Mountain West (12). She recently reached the 800 point and 500 rebound plateau for her career.
• Asia Avinger (Cerritos, Calif.) is one of three freshmen in the nation to average at least 11.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. (Notre Dame's Olivia Miles & Pacific's Anaya James). Avinger leads all Mountain West freshmen in scoring and assists.
• SDSU has three active players in the top 10 all-time in career three-point percentage. Mercedes Staples (Centerville, Utah) is fourth at 36.7 percent (59-158), Isabela Hernandez is seventh (35.5%, 59-166) and Sophia Ramos is 10th (35.2%, 144-409).
• The Aztecs are third in the MW in opponent field goal percentage (.389) and in opponent three-point percentage (.301).
 
Opponent Notebook (San Jose State)
• The Spartans are 4-19 on the year and 1-11 in conference.
• They opted out of last season in December due to COVID-19 concerns.
• Their lone conference win came against Boise State.
• They are 1-11 on the road.
• Cydni Lewis leads the team in scoring and rebounding (7.0).
• Head coach Jamie Craighead Turner is in her ninth year with the Spartans. She led SJSU to 19 wins in the 2019-20 season, the program's most since 1979-80.
 
Series Notes
• The Aztecs lead the all-time series 23-10.
• SDSU is 13-2 against the Spartans at home. The Aztecs have won five of the last six home games against SJSU.
• This will be their first meeting since Dec. 7, 2019.
• SJSU has won the last two meetings.
• The Aztecs are 7-6 against the Spartans since they joined the Mountain West.
• From 2007 to 2013, SDSU won 13 of the 14 meetings.
