SAN DIEGO – The Aztec (7-7, 1-2) women's basketball team plays at New Mexico (12-4, 3-0) Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. PT/2 p.m. MT.
 
Aztec Tidbits
• SDSU is coming off a big 73-63 win over Colorado State (10-2) Monday evening. Prior to Monday, the Rams' only loss was to Louisville, who is currently No. 3 in the nation.
• Freshman Asia Avinger finished with career-highs in points (24) and assists (7). Entering the game Asia's career-high for made field goals in a game was five and she finished with 10.
• The Aztecs set season highs for free throw percentage (.917, 11-12), points off turnovers (16) and fast break points (14) and held the Rams to zero second chance points.
• Also scoring in double-figures Monday was Mallory Adams (14), Sophia Ramos (12) and Isabela Hernandez (11).
• Mallory Adams (Frisco, Texas) finished with a double-double after collecting 12 rebounds. It was the 11th double-double in her career but first in over two years (Nov. 17, 2019). Adams also surpassed the 700-point mark for her career Monday.
• Hernandez (Bellingham, Wash.) scored a season-high 11 points with eight coming in the first half.
• Ramos (San Antonio) enters Sunday with 1,294 career points, good for the 12th most in program history. She also has 353 career assists and will jump from 9th to 7th all-time with six more assists. She is currently in the top 10 in program history in five statistical categories.
• Ramos has scored in double-digits in 13 of SDSU's 14 games and is shooting a career-best 44.4% from three this year, the second highest percentage in the conference and 28th in the nation. Ramos leads SDSU in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals and enters the week in the top 100 nationally in eight statistical categories.
• SDSU has three active players in the top six all-time in career three-point percentage. Mercedes Staples (Centerville, Utah) is fourth at 37.4 percent (49-131), Isabela Hernandez (Bellingham, Wash,) is fifth (37.3%, 53-142) and Sophia Ramos is sixth (36.3%, 128-353).
• Kamaria Gipson's (Beeville, Texas) 17 blocks are the third-most in the conference.
• The Aztecs are committing just 13.1 turnovers per game, the 28th fewest in the nation.
• SDSU is holding its opponents to 37.7 percent from the field, the second-lowest percentage in the Mountain West.
• The Aztecs went 6-5 in non-conference play, their first time having a winning record in OOC play since the 2017-18 season.
• The Aztecs officially joined the Jordan Brand family this season, becoming just the ninth women's basketball program in the Jordan lineup.
 
Opponent Notebook (New Mexico)
• The Lobos are 12-4 and 3-0 in conference play.
• They have won four in a row and are a perfect 8-0 at home.
• They are top 10 in the nation in three-pointers made per game (9.8) and in three-point percentage (.381).
• They lead the conference in points per game (75.8), field goal percentage (.456) and assists per game (16.6).
• The Lobos have four players averaging at least 12 points per game and are led by Shaiquel McGruder (13.9), who shoots a conference-best 60.5 percent from the floor.
• LaTora Duff leads the Mountain West with 6.0 assists per game.
• Her sister LaTascya Duff leads the conference and is ninth in the nation in three-point percentage (.484). She is making 3.0 three-pointers per game.
• Antonia Anderson averages a conference best 1.56 blocks per game.
• Head coach Mike Bradbury (6th season) is 106-59 (.642) all-time at New Mexico and is closing in on 300 wins for his career.
 
Series Notes
• New Mexico leads the all-time series 36-32.
• The Aztecs have played the Lobos more times than any other program.
• SDSU is 12-15 all-time against the Lobos at The Pit.
• New Mexico won both meetings last year, holding the Aztecs to 48 points in both games.
• Prior to last season, SDSU had won four in a row and six of seven against the Lobos.
• Their first meeting was Jan. 18, 1992, a 91-44 Aztec win. SDSU won the first 10 meetings.
• The Lobos won 19 straight meetings from 2001 to 2008.
• Sophia Ramos scored a career-high 32 points against the Lobos Jan. 29. 2020 and went a perfect 16-for-16 from the line, which is a school record for the most free throws attempted without a miss.
