SAN DIEGO – San Diego State senior Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez has been named the Mountain West Conference's Diver of the Week covering all competitions during the month of December. The announcement was made from the conference office in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Tuesday morning.
In her lone competition last month, versus Cal Poly on Dec. 20, the Tijuana, Mexico native compiled the best score in each of her two events.
She won the 3-meter competition with a score of 303.45, more than 25 points higher than her nearest competitor.
In the 1-meter competition, her score of 286.88 was the best in the event and more than 16 points better than the next best score, but her result was scored as an exhibition.
This is the sixth conference diver of the week honor Lechuga Gonzalez has earned in her collegiate career, her first of the season, and the first for an Aztec diver this year.
