WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. -- The San Diego State men's golf team moved up one place and is now sixth after two rounds of the Southwestern Invitational presented by Topgolf on Tuesday at the par-72, 6,992-yard North Ranch Country Club. The Aztecs matched their Monday score with a 2-over 290.

At 4-over 580 through 36 holes, SDSU has a one-stroke advantage over No. 8 Texas (+5) and No. 14 Wake Forest (+5), and trails UCLA (+1) by three shots. No. 3 Arizona State leads the 12-team field at 18-under 558 following a 13-under 275 on Tuesday. Tournament host and No. 7 Pepperdine is second at -11, while No. 13 Georgia (-9) and No. 21 Washington (-7) are also under par.

Freshman Shea Lague (Jamul, Calif./Steele Canyon HS) continues to pace San Diego State and is tied for 12th out of 64 golfers at 2-under 142 following an even-par 72 today. Lague overcame a double-bogey on the par-4, 462-yard first hole with birdies on the par-5, 581-yard fourth and the par-4, 386-yard ninth to get back to even par for the front nine. He responded from a bogey on the par-5, 474-yard 15th with a birdie on the par-4, 372-yard 16th to sign for a 72.

Sophomore Jackson Moss (San Diego/Point Loma HS) is tied for 28th through 36 holes at 1-over 145 after a 1-over 73 on Tuesday. Making his first career collegiate start this tournament, Moss recorded three birdies on the day, including the par-4, 415-yard second, the par-4, 415-yard 11th and the 16th. He also logged four bogeys, including a three-hole stretch from No. 12-to-No. 14 before finishing his final four holes at 1-under par.

Senior Zihao Jin (Beijing/Rancho Bernardo HS (San Diego)) recorded his second straight 1-over 73 and is tied for 32nd at 2-over 146. Jin got to 2-under with birdies on No. 4 and the par-5, 493-yard sixth, but was offset by bogeys on the par-3, 235-yard eighth and No. 11. Jin answered with a birdie on the par-5, 526-yard 12th, but took an unfortunate double-bogey on the par-3, 181-yard 17th to settle for a 73.

Senior Steve Sugimoto (San Diego/Rancho Bernardo HS), meanwhile, shot an even-par 72 today, improving four strokes from yesterday and moving up nine places into a tie for 35th at 4-over 148. Amazingly, Sugimoto recorded 16 pars in the 18 holes today, including each of the first 12 holes. His lone blemish came with a bogey on the par-3, 202-yard 13th, which he made up for with a birdie on No. 15.

Senior Puwit Anupansuebsai (Nakhon Phanom, Thailand) was unable get things going with a 4-over 76. Through two rounds, Anupansuebsai is tied for 43rd at 7-over 151. He had three birdies on the day - No. 6, No. 9 and No. 16 - but also had five bogeys and a double-bogey on the first hole.

Georgia's Trent Phillips and Devon Bling are tied for the lead at 8-under 136. Rounding out the top 5 are Travis Vick (-7) of Texas, Cameron Sisk (-6) of Arizona State and Teddy Lin (-5) of Washington.

The Aztecs tee off at 9:10 a.m. PT in Wednesday's final round with UCLA, No. 8 Texas and No. 14 Wake Forest.
