Brown Advances to PV Finals at Olympic Trials

EUGENE, Ore. – Former Aztec Kristen Brown advanced to the final round in the pole vault at the U.S. Olympic Trials Thursday evening at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field.

Brown cleared a season best 14-05.25 (4.40m) for an 11th place finish and will be among the 12 vaulters who vie for a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team in Saturday's finals.

Brown cleared 4.30m and 4.40m on her first attempts, before missing the mark in her three attempts at 4.50m.

Fellow Aztec vaulter Kortney Ross tied for 15th with a vault of 14-01.25 (4.30m). She cleared 4.30m on her second try before clipping the bar at 4.40m.

Ashley Henderson competed in the first round of the 200m dash and came in 20th place with a time of 23.25 seconds. The top two in each heat and the next six fastest times advance to Friday's semifinals and Henderson came short of making the cut.

UP NEXT
Brown will compete in the pole vault finals Saturday at 5:40 p.m. The top three finishers who have also hit the Olympic standard of 4.70m (15-05.00) will qualify for the Tokyo Olympics.
