SAN DIEGO – SDSU men's soccer's Laukoa Santos earned an invite to the 2021 adidas MLS College Showcase. Santos is one of 44 college players that will take part in the three-day event Dec. 10-12 in Cary, N.C.

"I'm extremely grateful and humbled to be invited to the MLS Combine as one of the top 44 players in the country," Santos said. "I look forward to representing the SDSU program and the great state of Hawaii! I'm very appreciative of my time at SDSU and the development both on and off the field to receive this amazing opportunity."

Santos (Waikoloa, Hawai'i) became the first Hawaiian men's soccer player to play in the Pac-12. After redshirting as a freshman, Santos appeared in 58 matches over the past four years while making 40 starts for the Aztecs.

"We are thrilled to see Koa invited to the MLS combine," Head coach Ryan Hopkins said. "It is a testament to his work ethic and drive to be the best version of himself every day. We look forward to watching him show himself at the combine and the hopeful anticipation of hearing his name called during the MLS Superdraft."

The College Showcase will take place in conjunction with the NCAA Men's College Cup in Cary N.C. and will give the technical staffs from every MLS club an opportunity to scout top collegiate prospects in the nation. Santos, who is one of three Pac-12 players to earn an invite, will participate in a series of training sessions, testing, interviews and match play.

Eleven players who participated in the 2019 adidas MLS College Showcase are currently on MLS rosters, including the No. 1 overall selections in the past two editions of the MLS SuperDraft. The 2020 showcase was canceled due to COVID-19.
