SAN DIEGO – The San Diego athletic department has partnered with TeamAltemus and the Anomaly Sports Group to empower and educate Aztec student-athletes about the name, image and likeness (NIL) landscape.

"I am excited to partner with Team Altemus and the Anomaly Sports Group and the educational platform they bring to our student-athletes as it relates to NIL," JD Wicker, SDSU's Director of Intercollegiate Athletics explained. "Preparing our student-athletes to take full advantage of NIL opportunities is of utmost importance to our department and the resources provided by this partnership will allow our student-athletes to do so."

TeamAltemus and Anomaly will provide NIL resources to assist student-athletes with the tools to protect their NIL and the money generated from it, while educating on questions to ask throughout the process of NIL and potentially selecting a marketing representative. They use their proprietary DDMC (decision-making, due diligence, money, contracts) methodology to ensure NIL knowledge begins to provide student-athletes a solid understanding of the landscape to empower them to be confident in choosing, pursuing, and managing their NIL opportunities.

"San Diego State is providing its student-athletes with the best resources to help them engage in NIL while simultaneously building a strong foundation for their professional lives after graduation," said TeamAltemus CEO Courtney Altemus. "We are thrilled to help San Diego State Athletics empower student-athletes with information and tools to help them effectively navigate NIL."

Aztec athletics is committed to providing our student-athletes with all the necessary resources and education to navigate the new NIL environment. SDSU has already partnered with Opendorse's Ready program which offers the three core pillars to student-athlete success: assessment, education, and performance – tailored to assist each individual athlete.

"During our time on campus, San Diego State's student-athletes were extremely engaged in learning about NIL," said Luke Fedlam, Anomaly Sports Group founder and president. "There was excitement in learning more about NIL as a business and understanding how to protect themselves in this business; and that's what we strive for."
