SAN DIEGO -- While the current Aztec football team clinched West Division with a victory over Boise State, several former Aztecs were making their presence known in professional sports.
In the NFL, safety Damontae Kazee (2013-16) started and was on the field for all 87 defensive and four special teams snaps for Dallas on Thanksgiving. Kazee made four tackles (three solo) in the game. The Cowboys will take on New Orleans on Thursday. Offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill (2013-16) also started for San Francisco and played all 70 snaps on offense and seven snaps on special teams in their victory over Minnesota. The 49ers head to Seattle for a divisional matchup in Week 13. Cornerback Darren Hall (2018-20) played for 26 defensive snaps and seven special teams snaps for Atlanta. Hall recorded three solo tackles, including a tackle for loss, and pass defensed. Hall and the Falcons will host the defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay. Offensive lineman Keith Ismael (2017-19) was on the field for 54 snaps on offense and two snaps on special teams for Washington. Filling in at center, Ismael made a huge block that helped running back J.D. McKissic find the end zone in a 2-point victory. Washington will take on Las Vegas in Week 13. Running back Rashaad Penny (2014-17) missed Monday's game with a hamstring injury. He will look to return against Brunskill's 49ers. Linebacker Calvin Munson (2013-16) was on the field for three snaps on defense and 16 snaps on special teams in New England's victory over Tennessee. He posted two tackles (one solo). The Patriots will travel to Buffalo for a big AFC East matchup on Monday night. Fullback Nick Bawden (2014-17), saw action for 10 snaps on offense and 17 snaps on special teams in the New York Jets' win over Houston. They will play Philadelphia next Sunday. Tight end David Wells (2014-17) and long snapper Aaron Brewer (2008-11) are on injured reserve for Arizona. Offensive lineman Jacob Capra (2019-20) and tight end Kahale Warring (2016-18) are on the practice squad for Buffalo. Defensive lineman Alex Barrett (2013-16) and cornerback Luq Barcoo (2018-19) are on San Francisco's practice squad.
In the NBA, guard Malachi Flynn (2020) played in three games in the last week for Toronto. Flynn averaged 5.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.3 blocks and 0.3 steals. On the season, he is averaging 2.5 points, 1.3 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.1 blocks. Forward Jalen McDaniels (2018-19) appeared in a quartet of games for Charlotte. McDaniels averaged 7.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 0.5 steals and 0.8 blocks. So far this season, he has put together 5.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 0.4 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game. Forward Kawhi Leonard (2010-11) is on the Los Angeles Clippers, but is sitting out while recovering from a Torn ACL suffered during last season's playoffs.
On the PGA Tour, Xander Schauffele (2013-15) is ranked fourth in the world. Next weekend, he will compete in the Hero World Challenge in Albany, Bahamas.
