SAN DIEGO -- It was another big week for former Aztecs in professional sports.

In the NFL, offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill (2013-16) started and played 59 snaps on offense and a trio of snaps on special teams for San Francisco. Next week, the 49ers host the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night. Safety Damontae Kazee (2013-16) drew the start and saw action in 43 defensive snaps for Dallas while assisting on a tackle. Next week, Kazee's Cowboys will host his former team, the Atlanta Falcons. Tight end David Wells (2014-17) made his NFL debut for Arizona after being elevated from their practice squad. Wells was on the field for a snap for the Cardinals offense in their victory before being removed from the game with a hand injury. In the same game, long snapper Aaron Brewer (2008-11) played eight special teams snaps for Arizona before leaving with an injury. Coach Kliff Kingsbury expects Brewer to miss multiple weeks. The Cardinals host Sam Darnold and Carolina in Week 10. Cornerback Darren Hall (2018-20) saw action for eight snaps on special teams for Atlanta in an upset victory over New Orleans. He will face off against Damontae Kazee and Dallas on Sunday. Linebacker Calvin Munson (2013-16) was on the field for 15 special teams snaps in New England's dominant win over Carolina. Next week, the Patriots face off against Cleveland. Running back Rashaad Penny (2014-17) and Seattle were on bye, but will return with a key matchup with Green Bay. Offensive lineman Keith Ismael (2017-19) and Jacob Capra (2019-20), fullback Nick Bawden (2014-17), and tight end Kahale Warring (2016-18) are on the practice squads for Washington, Buffalo, the New York Jets, and Arizona, respectively. On the other side of the ball, rookie safety Dwayne Johnson (2017-20) and defensive lineman Alex Barrett (2013-16) are the defensive players on practice squads, with Atlanta and San Francisco.

In the NBA, guard Malachi Flynn (2020) played in two games for Toronto in the last week. Flynn averaged 2.5 points, 1.0 rebound, 1.0 assist, 1.0 steal, and 0.5 blocks. On the season, he is averaging 1.3 points, 0.7 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.2 blocks. Forward Jalen McDaniels (2018-19) made it into four games for Charlotte last week, averaging 2.3 points, 1.5 rebounds, 0.3 assists, and 0.3 steals. This season, he is averarging 4.8 points, 1.7 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.1 block. Forward Kawhi Leonard (2010-11) is on the Los Angeles Clippers, but is currently rehabbing from a partially torn ACL suffered during last season's playoffs.

On the PGA Tour, J.J. Spaun (2009-12) tied for 27th at the World Wide Technology Championship at 11-under-par. Scott Piercy (1999-2001) tied for 40th in the event at 9-under-par. Next weekend, they will compete in the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Houston Open in Houston, Texas. Xander Schauffele (2013-15) is ranked fifth in the world.
