SAN DIEGO – The Aztec men's soccer team (8-6-2, 2-6-0) fell to No. 3 Washington (14-2-1, 6-2-1) 1-0 on the SDSU Sports Deck Sunday afternoon.

The Huskies scored their lone goal 91 seconds into the match and then held the Aztecs to three shots. UW outshot SDSU 14-3 and 7-1 in shots on goal.

"It took us a while to get going. You never want to fall behind early, but certainly not to the number three team in the country," Head coach Ryan Hopkins said after the match. "The guys responded, and I thought we were the better team in the second half and that those were our best 45 minutes of the year."

The Aztecs had two scoring opportunities in the second half. The first was in the 48th minute when Laukoa Santos sent a low line drive cross to Blake Bowen in the box, but UW goalkeeper Sam Fowler charged and poked the ball away just before Bowen could get a foot on it.

SDSU scored in the 82nd minute when Tadej Pirtovšek tapped in a deflection following a Rik Regeling shot, but it was called off after Pirtovšek was whistled for being offsides.

Goalkeeper Jacob Castro collected six saves.

This was SDSU's second game in a 72-hour span against a top-three team. The Aztecs also fell 1-0 to No. 2 Oregon State.
