COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State volleyball senior Victoria O'Sullivan was named to the all-Mountain West team for the second straight season, as selected by 10 of the league's 11 head coaches.
With her award, O'Sullivan gives the Aztecs at least one all-conference honoree for the seventh year in a row and becomes the first SDSU competitor to garner all-MW accolades in consecutive seasons since Deja Harris accomplished the feat in four straight years from 2015-18.
A native of Albany, California, O'Sullivan averaged 3.85 kills and 4.26 points per set during the Mountain West schedule, which ranked second and third in the league, respectively.
For all matches during the 2021 campaign, O'Sullivan also occupied the second spot in the MW with an average of 3.71 kills per set and established a single-season career high with 393 kills overall, which ranks 69th in the country as of Nov. 23. In addition, the SDSU outside hitter set a personal-best with a .261 hitting percentage, which was tops among Aztec regulars with over 3.0 attempts per set.
O'Sullivan posted double-digit kills in 24 of 29 starts this season and has exceeded that barrier in 56 of her last 72 appearances dating back to the start of the 2019 campaign.
On Oct. 28, O'Sullivan recorded a career-high 24 kills against Utah State and followed that effort with another 23 put-aways two days later vs. Boise State, which are tied for the third- and fifth-highest single-match totals, respectively, in the Mountain West this season.
In the first meeting with the Broncos, O'Sullivan blasted 22 kills in a 3-0 sweep at Boise on Oct. 14, which marked the top figure for a three-set match in the conference during the regular season. For her efforts, the interdisciplinary studies major collected Mountain West Player of the Week honors.
O'Sullivan finished her illustrious career on The Mesa with 1,026 kills, becoming the seventh Aztec player to surpass 1,000 put-aways in a Scarlet and Black uniform since 2003 after Deja Harris (1,298; 2014-18), Andrea Hannasch (1,242; 2009-12), Hannah Turnlund (1,123; 2016-19), Raegan Shelton (1,076; 2010-13), Aspen McPartland (1,030; 2001-03) and Lauren Salisbury (1,004; 2007-10).
O'Sullivan's 393 kills in 2021 also represent SDSU's highest single-season total since Alexandra Psoma launched 407 non-returnables in 2016.
