SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego State football team moved up one spot and is ranked 22nd in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, which was released Sunday. It is the sixth time the Aztecs have been ranked in the AP Top 25 poll this year, their most times in a season in program history.

SDSU, which is ranked for the 16th time since 2016, has 273 points and is ahead of No. 23 Louisiana (246), No. 24 North Carolina State (141) and No. 25 Arkansas (105). Just beyond San Diego State are No. 20 Pittsburgh (445) and No. 21 Wake Forest (344). Utah, which the Aztecs defeated, 33-31, on Sept. 18, is ranked 16th following a 38-7 win over then No. 3 Oregon to clinch the Pac-12 South title.

In the AFCA Coaches Poll, SDSU is also 22nd with 257 points, ahead of No. 23 Louisiana (236), No. 24 North Carolina State (196) and No. 25 Kentucky (91). UTSA is 20th with 475 points and Wake Forest is 21st (404).

Georgia is ranked first in both polls with all the first-place votes.

The College Football Playoff Selection Committee Rankings will be released on Tuesday. The Aztecs were 19th in the third release last week.

San Diego State, which at 10-1 has matched its best start since starting 11-0 in its first year of Division I football in 1969, plays host to Boise State at 9 a.m. PT Friday.
