SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego State football team is ranked 23rd in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll, which was released Sunday. It is the fifth time the Aztecs have been ranked in the AP Top 25 poll this year and the 15th occasion since the 2016 season.

SDSU is receiving 239 points in the latest poll following two straight wins, including a 23-21 victory over Nevada on Saturday night. San Diego State is ahead of No. 24 Utah (141) and No. 25 North Carolina State (95) in the top 25. Just above the Aztecs are No. 20 Pittsburgh (358), No. 21 Arkansas (277) and No. 22 Louisiana (261).

In the AFCA Coaches Poll, SDSU is also 23rd with 210 points, easily ahead of No. 24 North Carolina State (138) and No. 25 Utah (133), and the others receiving votes. Wisconsin is ranked 20th in the coaches poll with 407 points, while No. 21 Louisiana (239) and No. 22 Arkansas (212) are narrowly ahead of San Diego State.

Georgia is ranked first in both polls with all the first-place votes.

The College Football Playoff Selection Committee Rankings will be released on Tuesday. The Aztecs were 22nd in the second release last week.

SDSU, which at 9-1 has matched its best start since starting 10-0 in its first year of Division I football in 1969, plays at UNLV at 8:30 p.m. PT Friday.
