IRVING, Texas -- San Diego State moved up to 22nd in the second College Football Playoff Selection Committee Rankings, which was released Tuesday night. The Aztecs were 24th in the initial rankings last Tuesday.
SDSU is ahead of No. 23 UTSA, No. 24 Utah and No. 25 Arkansas. Iowa is ranked 20th, while Pittsburgh jumped San Diego State and is at No. 21. Georgia, Alabama, Oregon and Ohio State are the top-4 teams in the latest rankings.
The Aztecs are 8-1, matching their best nine-game start in the last 51 seasons. SDSU has a pair of wins over Pac-12 programs in No. 24 Utah and Arizona with its only loss coming Oct. 30 Fresno State, which was No. 23 last week before falling to Boise State.
San Diego State welcomes Nevada at 7:30 p.m. PT Saturday for Homecoming at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
