CHARLESTON, S.C. – After being delayed nearly seven hours due to rain, San Diego State senior Bunyawi Thamchaiwat finally had the opportunity to open play in the ITA Women's All-American Championship at the LTP Tennis Club.

Playing in just her third match as an Aztec, the fifth-seeded player ranked ninth nationally, dropped a competitive first set before falling to Wake Forest junior 21st-ranked Carolyn Campana, 6-4, 6-1 in the round of 32.

The match was closer than the score indicated, with Thamchaiwat, winning 43 of the 97 points in the match, while placing 77 percent of her first serves in play. In the first set, Thamchaiwat won more points (29-28), but the SDSU senior was only able to convert on two of eight break opportunities in the match, including one of five in the competitive first set. Campana converted on five of six break opportunities Wednesday.

With round of 32 matches still underway, consolation bracket details are not currently available. The consolation bracket was originally scheduled to begin tomorrow, prior to rain pushing back today's first day matches.
