SAN DIEGO -- The NBA season tipped off as the NFL season continued on.

In the NFL, running back Rashaad Penny (2014-17) returned from injured reserve for Seattle's Monday night matchup with New Orleans. He played for 20 snaps on offense and rushed six times for nine yards (1.5 YPC). The Seahawks host Jacksonville on Sunday. Offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill (2013-16) drew the start and was on the field for all 56 offensive snaps and three special teams snaps for San Francisco on Sunday Night Football. The 49ers will take on the Chicago Bears on the road in Week Eight. Cornerback Darren Hall (2018-20) saw action for a snap on defense and 11 snaps on special teams in Atlanta's last second victory over Miami. The Falcons will play Carolina on Sunday. Long snapper Aaron Brewer (2008-11) played nine special teams snaps in Arizona's victory over Houston. Next week, the Cardinals, who share a 7-0 record with the Aztecs, host Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night. Safety Damontae Kazee (2013-16) and Dallas were on bye in Week Seven. Week Eight, they will visit Minnesota on Sunday night. Offensive lineman Keith Ismael (2017-19), fullback Nick Bawden (2014-17), and tight ends Kahale Warring (2016-18) and David Wells (2014-17) are on the practice squads for Washington, the New York Jets, Buffalo, and Arizona, respectively. On the other side of the ball, rookie safety Dwayne Johnson (2017-20), linebacker Calvin Munson (2013-16), defensive lineman Alex Barrett (2013-16) are the defensive players on practice squads, with Atlanta, Miami, and San Francisco.

In the NBA, guard Malachi Flynn (2020) logged an assist, a rebound, and a steal in 2:56 in Toronto's win over Boston on Friday. Forward Jalen McDaniels (2018-19) has played in all four of Charlotte's games so far. He averaged 5.3 points, 1.5 rebounds, 0.8 assists, and 0.3 steals. Forward Kawhi Leonard (2010-11) is on the Los Angeles Clippers, but is currently rehabbing from a partially torn ACL suffered during last season's playoffs.

On the PGA Tour, Xander Schauffele (2013-15) tied for 28th in the ZOZO Championship, with an even-par score. He is ranked fifth in the world. Next weekend, J.J. Spaun (2009-2012) will compete in the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, in Southampton, Bermuda.
