SAN DIEGO -- This week, Xander Schauffele (2013-15) represented Team USA in the Ryder Cup, while Darren Hall (2018-20) made his NFL debut and Ty France (2013-15) stayed hot in the MLB.

In golf, Xander Schauffele (2013-15) went 3-1 in the Ryder Cup to help Team USA to a dominant 19-9 win over Europe. Schauffele is ranked fifth in the world. Next weekend, Scott Piercy (1999-01) and J.J. Spaun (2009-12) will compete in the Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Mississippi.

In the NFL, safety Damontae Kazee (2013-16) started and played 52 snaps on defense and two on special teams in Dallas' Monday night win over Philadelphia. Kazee made three tackles (two solo) and had a pass defensed in the game. The Cowboys will face the Carolina Panthers in Week Four. In Sunday night's thriller, offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill (2013-16) started and saw action for all 70 of San Francisco's offensive snaps in addition to four on special teams. The 49ers host Seattle for a rivalry game on Sunday. Long snapper Aaron Brewer (2008-11) was on the field for 11 snaps on special teams in Arizona's win over Jacksonville. Cornerback Luq Barcoo (2018-19) did not see the field in a potential revenge game. The Cardinals will travel to Los Angeles and play the Rams on Sunday. Rookie cornerback Darren Hall made his NFL debut in Atlanta's 17-14 win over the New York Giants on Sunday. Hall played for six snaps on special teams. Next week, the Falcons will take on Washington in another game against the NFC East. Running back Rashaad Penny (2014-17) missed Seattle's loss to Minnesota with a calf injury. He will hope to return for Sunday's game against San Francisco. The New York Jets signed fullback Nick Bawden (2014-17) to their practice squad on Thursday and Indianapolis signed tight end David Wells (2014-17) to their practice squad on Tuesday. Offensive linemen Keith Ismael (2017-19) and rookie Jacob Capra (2019-20), and tight end Kahale Warring (2016-18) are on the practice squads for Washington, Green Bay, and Buffalo, respectively. On the other side of the ball, rookie safety Dwayne Johnson (2017-20), linebacker Calvin Munson (2013-16), defensive lineman Alex Barrett (2013-16) are the defensive players on practice squads, with Atlanta, Miami, and San Francisco. 

In the MLB, Ty France started at first base for all seven of Seattle's games last week. Four of those games were against Oakland, a team that France has dominated this season, and he kept up his hot streak. Last week, he batted .308 with a .419 on base percentage, two homers, eight RBIs, and six runs scored. On Wednesday night, he took Oakland starter Cole Irvin deep in the fifth inning for a solo homer over the Rickey Henderson Field sign at the Coliseum. On Friday night, in Anaheim, France hit a solo home run in the first to give Seattle a 1-0 lead. Two innings later, he followed it up with an RBI single, before driving in a run on a fielder's choice in the seventh in a game that Seattle won 6-5. France closed out his week on a high note, again facing Oakland and Irvin. He put the Mariners on the board in the third inning with a double off the wall in right-center field to drive in Dylan Moore. France singled in Tom Murphy in the fourth inning before driving in Jarred Kelenic and Murphy again in the seventh inning for his third and fourth RBIs of the game. On the season, France is batting .295 with a .370 on base percentage, 18 home runs, 72 RBIs and 81 runs scored. The Mariners have won eight of their last nine games, and trail Houston by 4.5 games in the AL West and Boston by 1.5 games in the AL Wild Card race.
