SAN DIEGO -- One former Aztec had a takeaway for the second consecutive week while another continued his hot season at the plate.

In the NFL, safety Damontae Kazee (2013-16) started and played 67 snaps on defense in Dallas' last second win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Justin Herbert and the Chargers were driving down the field near the end of the third quarter and had made it inside the Dallas 10-yard line as they looked for a touchdown to take the lead. Herbert fired a pass towards his receiver Keenan Allen in the end zone and Kazee reached up to intercept it and preserve the 14-14 tie. The Cowboys would go on to win, 20-17, on a last second field goal by kicker Greg Zuerlein. Kazee also had two tackles (one solo) and a pass defended in the game. The Cowboys will host Philadelphia on Monday night. Offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill (2013-16) started and played all 70 offensive snaps and three special teams snaps in San Francisco's win over Philadelphia. The 49ers will host reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay on Sunday night. For the second consecutive week, long snapper Aaron Brewer (2008-11) appeared in 10 snaps on special teams for Arizona. Cornerback Luq Barcoo (2018-19) did not play in the contest. The Cardinals beat Minnesota on a missed field goal by the Vikings' Greg Joseph. Arizona will travel to Jacksonville to do battle with the Jaguars on Sunday. Rookie cornerback Darren Hall (2018-20) did not play in Atlanta's game against Tampa Bay. The Falcons travel to the Big Apple to take on the New York Giants in Week Three. Running back Rashaad Penny (2014-17) missed Seattle's game versus Tennessee with a calf injury, but will hope to play in next week's game against Minnesota. Offensive linemen Keith Ismael (2017-19) and rookie Jacob Capra (2019-20), and tight end Kahale Warring (2016-18) are on the practice squads for Washington, Green Bay, and Buffalo, respectively. On the other side of the ball, rookie safety Dwayne Johnson (2017-20), linebacker Calvin Munson (2013-16), defensive lineman Alex Barrett (2013-16) are the defensive players on practice squads, with Atlanta, Miami, and San Francisco.

In the MLB, first baseman Ty France (2013-15) started all six games for the Seattle Mariners. This week, he batted .476 with a .560 on base percentage, three RBIs and three runs scored. France had RBI singles on Tuesday, Sunday and Monday. On the season, France is batting .294 with a .367 on base percentage, 16 homers, 64 RBIs and 75 runs. The Mariners sit in third place in the AL West, eight games behind Houston, while trailing Toronto by just three games for the second Wild Card.

On the PGA Tour, Scott Piercy (1999-01) tied for 11th in the Fortinet Championship at 12-under-par, while J.J. Spaun (2009-12) did not make the cut in the event. This weekend, Xander Schauffele (2013-15), who is ranked fifth in the world, will compete for Team USA in the Ryder Cup in Whistling Straits, Wisconsin.
