SAN DIEGO – The No. 21-ranked San Diego State men's soccer team and No. 23 Stanford Cardinal could not separate themselves in more than 100 minutes of Pac-12 action on Sunday afternoon, but just 1:02 in the second overtime, senior forward Tevenn Roux took a perfectly placed cross and slotted it inside the far post to send the Aztecs to a 1-0 victory.

Less than a minute into the second extra period, Alex Jaelmof, from the left side of the field, reversed it to Austin Wehner who then drove down the right side and from just outside the 18, served a ball to the far post. A Stanford defender and the Cardinal keeper tried to stop the pass, but it slipped between the pair and right on to Roux's foot. The Davidson, N.C., native directed it into the goal to give the Aztecs the 1-0 victory.

With the decision, San Diego State improves to 5-0-2, 2-0-0 in Pac-12 play. It is the first time since 2005 that San Diego State has been undefeated through its first seven matches of a season.

The Aztecs nearly won the game in the first overtime. In the 95th minute, Jaelmof slammed a shot off the crossbar, which would have ended the game, but Stanford (2-3-1, 0-2-0 Pac-12) luckily survived the attempt and the match continued for six more minutes.

Overall, the Cardinal outshot the Aztecs 15-to-9 in regulation and each team attempted a pair of shots in the 11-plus minutes of overtime. Laukoa Santos & Hjaelmof led the Aztecs with two shots apiece. Stanford's offensive attack was paced by a four-shot game for Ousseni Bouda.

On the defensive end keeper Jacob Castro played incredibly. He faced 17 Cardinal shots, seven of which reached his line, and he turned all of them away, several on spectacular diving saves.

The Aztecs jump back into non-conference play next week when they host Gonzaga on the Sports Deck on Friday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
