SAN DIEGO – San Diego State swimming and diving head coach Mike Shrader has released the team's 2021-22 schedule.
The Aztecs kick off the season at the University of San Diego, competing in a pentathlon meet (swim only) Sept. 17. SDSU and USD meet to open the season for the tenth time in the last 11 campaigns. San Diego State has won the previous nine season-opening pentathlons with the Toreros.
The Scarlet and Black jump back into the pool Oct. 7 with a dual meet at Pepperdine. The Aztecs and Waves last met Jan. 15, 2021, in Malibu, as the Aztecs brought home a 95-83 victory.
The next day, SDSU makes its annual trip to the Fresno State Invite on the campus of Fresno State. The Aztecs head to the two-day event for the fifth consecutive season, dating back to the 2016-17 campaign.
SDSU takes a 13-day break before sending their swimmers to the LMU invitational on Oct. 22, followed by a trip for the Aztecs' entire program to Houston, Texas to compete in the University of Houston's annual Phil Hansel Invitational, scheduled for Nov. 18-20 in Houston, Texas.
After taking a month away from competition, the Aztecs open their home slate hosting Air Force on Dec. 21. Nine days later, the Aztecs host the University of Incarnate Word to open competition in 2022 on Jan. 1.
Three days after welcoming the University of Incarnate Word to San Diego, the Aztecs host San José State for a dual meet on Jan. 4. Two days later, the Aztecs welcome Cal State East Bay and the University of New Mexico to Aztec Aquaplex at 2 p.m.
On Jan. 7, the Aztecs take on Mountain West foes Fresno State and Colorado State for their third home meet in four days. Just 24 hours later, the Aztecs close a busy five days with a dual meet at home against Pepperdine.
The Aztec divers head to the UCLA Diving Invite on Jan. 13-15 to prep for the Aztecs' final regular season home meet (both swimmers and divers) against USD, Jan. 28.
SDSU's divers have one more tune-up before conference championship competition, diving in the NAU Diving Invite Feb. 3-5.
The 2022 Mountain West Championships are scheduled for Feb. 16-19, 2022.
For divers who qualify throughout the season, the NCAA Zone E Championships are scheduled for March 7-9.
Qualifiers from the Aztecs will then head to Atlanta, Georgia, March 16-19, to compete in the 2022 NCAA Championships, hosted by the Georgia Institute of Technology.
