SAN DIEGO – The Aztec men's soccer team (3-0-2) is ranked No. 21 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll, the program's first national ranking since 2016.
The Aztecs have four shutouts in their five contests and haven't trailed all season. They rank top five in the nation in shutout percentage (.800), team goals against average (.184) and save percentage (.944). Goalkeeper Jacob Castro's four shutouts are tied for the most in the nation.
SDSU, who is undefeated through five matches, is also ranked No. 2 in the Far West Region, behind only Washington (5-0-0), who is No. 3 in the country.
The Aztecs host California Thursday and No. 23 Stanford on Sunday. This is the first time SDSU has entered Pac-12 play undefeated since 2005.
