SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego State men's golf team is listed as the 21st-best team in a preseason preview by GolfChannel.com.

The Aztecs are just behind No. 20 Notre Dame and ahead of No. 22 Washington, No. 23 TCU, No. 24 SMU and No. 25 South Florida, among others. Defending NCAA champion Pepperdine is ranked first, while No. 2 Oklahoma State, No. 3 Arizona State, No. 4 Texas and No. 5 Vanderbilt round out the top 5.

SDSU returns five of its six regular starters from a year ago where it tied for 25th at the 2021 NCAA Championship and completed its season with two team victories, seven top-5 finishes and three individual titles.

About San Diego State, Brentley Romine wrote "The Aztecs received a major boost when Puwit Anupansuebsai decided to come back for his extra year and sacrifice a Forme Tour card via the PGA Tour University top 15. He'll again team up with seniors Youssef Guezzale, Steve Sugimoto, Zihao Jin and Joey Moore for what will be an experienced top five."

Additionally, Anupansuebsai is listed as the 37th-best individual men's golfer in the country.

SDSU begins its season with the Maui Jim Intercollegiate, Sept. 10-12, at Mirabel Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
