SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State athletic department has announced its first set of promotions for the 2021 Aztec football season, with all seven home games to be contested at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. Additional SDSU gameday promotions will be revealed at a later date.
The Aztecs' 2021 home slate features high-profile games against Utah, Boise State, Fresno State and Nevada. Five of the six FBS opponents that the Scarlet and Black will play host to this year finished the 2020 campaign with a record of .500 or better.
San Diego State kicks off its 2021 season on Saturday, Sept. 4, with a non-conference clash against New Mexico State, and the first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a free replica Aztec football jersey.
After a quick road trip to face Arizona, SDSU returns home the following week to battle former Mountain West rival Utah on Saturday, Sept. 18. The Aztecs-Utes showdown has been designated a "blackout" game, and all fans are encouraged to wear black to the contest.
On Saturday, Sept. 25, San Diego State welcomes Towson to Dignity Health Sports Park, where free SDSU hats will be presented to the first 10,000 spectators.
Following a bye week, the Aztecs open their Mountain West schedule on Saturday, Oct. 9, when they square off against New Mexico in the first meeting against former head coach Rocky Long, who became the Lobos defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. With San Diego State University planning on-campus activities for its Family Weekend gala, Oct. 16-17, families of SDSU students will receive a special ticket offer to attend the Aztecs-Lobos game the weekend prior.
After a two-week road swing, San Diego State will recognize the Aztec Athletic Hall of Fame 2021 induction class on Saturday, Oct. 30, when Fresno State travels to Carson to compete for the Oil Can Trophy in the annual rivalry game.
Next up, SDSU will celebrate Homecoming when Nevada invades Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday, Nov. 13. The Aztecs have won four of their last six Homecoming games but will be looking to avenge a 17-13 setback to the same Wolf Pack squad in the last such contest on Nov. 9, 2019.
SDSU will then battle Boise State in its regular-season home finale on Friday, Nov. 26, to highlight Senior Day festivities. With a special 9 a.m. PT kickoff time, the Aztecs-Broncos tilt has also been specified as a "redout" game, and all fans are urged to wear red to the game. In addition, a free Aztec Stadium mini replica will be given away to the first 10,000 fans.
Along with individual promotions, Aztec Village will make its return to the San Diego State football gameday experience for the 2021 season. Located at the north end of Dignity Health Sports Park, Aztec Village is free and open to the public, featuring food and beverage vendors, a Kids Zone, live DJ, photo ops and more.
San Diego State football season tickets are available now, starting at just $149, and fans can select their seats when ordering online at GoAztecs.com/tickets.
In addition, three-game mini plans, starting at just $65, will be available online beginning Monday, July 12, while single-game tickets will go on sale at a later date.
