In the MLB, France continued his good season into this week. France started all six of Seattle's games. He mostly played first base, but spent a game each at third base and designated hitter. This week, France batted .348 with a .385 on base percentage, a home run, five RBIs and a pair of runs scored. He started the week off with a bang on Tuesday, hitting a three-run homer in the sixth inning off Toronto starter Robbie Ray to account for the Mariners' only runs of the game. On the season, France is batting .265 with a .351 on base percentage, eight homers, 34 RBIs and 37 runs scored. The Mariners are in third place and trail Houston by seven games. Stephen Strasburg (2007-29) has been throwing bullpen sessions as he attempts to return from the IL for Washington with a neck strain. On the season, Strasburg is 1-2 with a 4.57 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts in 21 2/3 innings. Washington is in second place in the NL East, at four games behind New York.
