SAN DIEGO -- It was another big week for former Aztecs in professional sports.
 
In the NBA, Kawhi Leonard (2010-11) and the Los Angeles Clippers dropped the first two games of their Western Conference Semifinal series before again bouncing back to even the series at two. So far this series, Leonard has averaged 27.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.5 blocks. In game 4, he had a monster dunk where over Utah's Derrick Favors. Game 5 will take place on Wednesday night.
 
In the MLB, Ty France (2013-15) started all seven of Seattle's games last week at a combination of first base, third base and designated hitter. For the week, France batted .240 with a .406 on base percentage, driving in one and scoring three times. On Monday night, France doubled home Jake Fraley before scoring on a triple by Dylan Moore in a game that the Mariners would win 4-3 over Minnesota. On the season, France is batting .248 with a .343 on base percentage, 22 RBIs, three home runs and 27 runs scored. The Mariners are in fourth place and trail Oakland by eight games in the AL West. Stephen Strasburg (2007-09) remains on the IL for Washington with a neck strain. On the season, Strasburg is 1-2 with a 4.57 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts in 21.2 innings. Alan Trejo (2015-17) was sent back down to AAA by Colorado. 
 
On the PGA Tour, Scott Piercy (1999-01) tied for 19th at the Palmetto Championship at Congaree at 6-under-par while J.J. Spaun (2009-12) did not make the cut. Next weekend, Spaun and Xander Schauffle (2013-15) will compete in the U.S. Open Championship in nearby La Jolla. Schauffele is ranked sixth in the world and seventh in the FedEx Cup.
