FRESNO, Calif. – San Diego State lacrosse team members sophomore Caitlin Jones and redshirt senior Katy Sharretts were named to the MPSF All-Tournament team Saturday, the conference announced after the 2021 MPSF Championship game.
In the Aztecs' semifinals game, Jones led all Aztec scorers with four goals, achieving the feat for the fourth time this season. The sophomore also added a ground-ball pickup to her stat line, collected in the second half during an offensive drought from both programs for nine-plus minutes. Her efforts led the Aztecs to later in the possession tie the game at 11-11.
Redshirt-senior, three-time team captain, and three-time all-MPSF conference team member Sharretts had a fantastic day in the net in San Diego State's semifinals' matchup with Fresno State. The Bel Air, Md. native recorded 11 saves on 25 shots on goal for a .440 save percentage. She ends her career donning the Scarlet and Black with 568 total saves, the fifth-most by an MPSF keeper in conference history.
Friday's matchup ended the Aztecs' 2021 season, a campaign that included the program's first-ever win over the University of Southern California and four wins over Pac-12 programs.
