COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- San Diego State men's golf seniors Puwit Anupansuebsai and Steve Sugimoto each were named to the 10-man all-Mountain West team, the league announced Thursday. It is the third straight year Anupansuebsai made the all-conference team, while Sugimoto earned his first MW accolade.

The duo has led the Aztecs to a NCAA regional bid, two team titles and No. 26 rating in the latest Golfstat rankings.

Anupansuebsai, who was the MW Men's Golfer of the Year last season (2019-20), is fresh off a victory at the MW Championship, where he came out on top of the first four-man playoff in league history. Anupansuebsai won the tournament with a birdie on the second playoff hole following a 6-under 66 in the final round to force the playoff. It was SDSU's first MW men's golfer champion in 20 years (John Lepak in 2001). The win was the culmination of a great stretch of golf as he took second at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic at 12-under 214, then lost in a playoff at the Western Intercollegiate following a 5-under 205 before taking the MW Championship at 7-under 209 in another playoff. Anupansuebsai leads San Diego State with a 71.05 scoring average, rounds in the 60s (7) and rounds below par (10), while tying for first in even-par rounds (5).

Sugimoto, meanwhile, ranks third on the team with a 72.29 scoring average and seven rounds below par. Sugimoto led the Aztecs at Arizona's National Invitational Tournament, tying for ninth at 10-under 206. He has three top-20 finishes, all over his final four tournaments. This year he has set career lows over 18 holes (65 on April 5 in the first round of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic) and 54 holes (206 at the N.I.T. from March 20-21).

SDSU will compete in the NCAA Kingston Springs Regional, May 17-19, on the par-71, 7,102-yard The Golf of Club of Tennessee in the Nashville area.
