Mountain West Outdoor Championships – May 13-15
Clovis, Calif. – Veterans Memorial Stadium (Hosted by Fresno State)

The Aztecs will be competing in the Mountain West Outdoor Championships Thursday-Saturday. The meet has been condensed from four to three days and will be streamed on the Mountain West Network. It will take place at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, Calif. (hosted by Fresno State) for the fourth consecutive time.
 
The meet begins Thursday at 4 p.m. with the first four events of the heptathlon and the 10,000m which Carlene Masar will be running in. The heptathlon continues Friday beginning at 10:30 a.m. Also on Friday will be the finals for the hammer throw (3 p.m.), long jump (4 p.m.), pole vault (6 p.m.) and shot put (7 p.m.) in addition to the prelims for all track events where the top eight finishers will advance to Saturday's finals.
 
Finals for the javelin (1 p.m.), triple jump (5 p.m.), discus (6 p.m.) and high jump (7 p.m.) are on Saturday. The meet ends with the 4x400m relay at 9:55 p.m. which the Aztecs have won in the last two outdoor championships. SDSU will have an entry in every event except for the 3,000m steeplechase.
 
Fans will be allowed at the championships in a limited capacity. Institutions will submit a pass list to the Conference office. Further details concerning online ticket sales are still being finalized and are forthcoming per the conference.
 
Aztec Tidbits
- The Aztecs have won four of the last seven Mountain West Outdoor Championships. Colorado State has won the other three.
- SDSU last won in 2018 and took second in 2019. The 2020 championships were canceled due to COVID-19 safety protocols.
- The Aztecs have finished third or higher in each of the last seven championships.
- SDSU has won three of the last four 4x100m relays and the last two 4x400m relays.
- Entering the championships, eight Aztecs have marks that would qualify them for the NCAA West Prelims May 27 & 29 at Texas A&M. Athletes must rank in the top 48 in their region to qualify and relays must be in the top 24. The top 24 heptathletes in the nation will be accepted directly into the NCAA Championships.
- The Aztecs are ranked in the top 15 nationally in the USTFCCCA event squad rankings in three events: discus (10th), pole vault (10th) and 400m hurdles (11th).
- Eight Aztecs have recorded marks that put them in the top ten all-time in SDSU's outdoor history: Jessica Kain (4th 1,500m 4:23.83), Jordyn Bryant (4th in shot put 51-03.50 & 8th in discus throw 172-5), Kaitlin Heri (5th pole vault, 14-00.00), Simone Johnson (5th in triple jump, 42-03.50), Carlene Masar (5th 10,000m, 35:27.53), Maya Brosch (9th in 400m hurdles, 58.74) and Felicia Crenshaw (9th hammer throw, 165-4).
- In SDSU's four meets that were team competitions, the Aztecs finished in first three times and second once.
