SAN DIEGO – San Diego State lacrosse fifth year Katy Sharretts was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending April 4, the conference offices announced Monday. The award is Sharretts' third of the season and the Aztecs' third defensive player of the week award in the last four weeks.

Sharretts was dominant in the net for the Scarlet and Black in their victory over the Golden Bears, recording a .444 save percentage while grabbing two ground balls. Six of her saves came in the second half, when the Bears went on a 4-0 run to tie up the game, 9-9, while three of her saves kept the game in the Aztecs' favor after California's game-tying run. Additionally, with her eight saves throughout the Easter Sunday matchup, the Bel Air, Md. native became just the seventh netminder in MPSF history to accumulate 500-or-more saves in her career. Her program-leading career total currently sits at 505 saves, nine saves away from sixth-most in conference history (Anna Poponyak, Oregon—514).

The Aztecs hit the road for the final time in the regular season, driving up the coast to USC Friday, April 9, and then continuing their California road trip with an MPSF matchup with the UC Davis Aggies Sunday, April 11. Both games are set to start at noon.
