SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State lacrosse team placed six student-athletes on the all-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation lacrosse team, the conference office announced Thursday.
 
Redshirt senior Katy Sharretts earned the honor for the third time, the only all-MPSF selection this year to achieve that feat. Also earning all-conference honors were seniors Bailey Brown, Gabbie Garrison, Shelby Hook, Lexi Tan, and graduate student Emily Resnick.
 
This season's all-conference team included six attackers, six midfielders, five defenders, and one goalkeeper. SDSU's six honorees were the second-most by a conference program, as UC Davis led the league with seven selections and Fresno State earned five nods.
 
Below are the six Aztec selections at a glance:
 
#39 Lexi Tan; R Sr.; A; Towson, Md.

  • Team's leading goal scorer (27), sixth-best in the conference (fourth-best avg/game)
  • Her FPG% ranks 11th in the nation (as of April 22), second in the MPSF (.706)
  • Fourth in the MPSF in total free-position scores (14), second-best average/game
  • 12th in the nation in free-position goals per game (1.20)

 
#36 Katy Sharretts; R Sr.; GK; Bel Air, Md.

  • Three-time team captain and rock of the Aztecs' program, San Diego State program leader in career saves, ranks third in the nation in saves this season (144)
  • Leads the league in saves this season, leads the team in ground balls collected, fourth in the MPSF in ground balls this season
  • Has made double-digit saves in nine games, including more than 13 saves on seven occasions-- seventh in the nation for saves/game (11.08/game), 5th all-time in the MPSF rankings for total saves in a career (557 total)
  • Collected four MPSF Defensive Player of the Week Awards (Feb. 22, March 15, April 5, April 19)

 
#12 Emily Resnick; Grad Student; M; Webster, N.Y.

  • Team leader in points (43) and assists (22) accrued this season
  • Fourth in the conference in total points
  • 37th in the nation in total assists, tied-for-the conference leader in the stat category
  • 10th in the conference in draw controls (17)

 
#38 Shelby Hook; Sr.; D; Temecula, Calif.

  • Ranks fifth on the team for ground balls collected this season  (14)
  • Ranks tied-for-third on the San Diego State roster in caused turnovers on the 2021 season (8)
  • Collected key ground balls throughout the season
  • A vocal leader of the San Diego State Defense, the energizer when the defense needed a boost throughout a difficult game

 
#24 Gabbie Garrison; Sr.; D; Westlake Village, Calif.

  • One of the team's five captains—the team's unsung hero and the backbone of the defense, a leader with a calming presence and the most consistent defender this season
  • Always marked up on one of each opponent's best player
  • Totaled seven ground balls and a caused turnover this season
  • Missed three games due to COVID-19 protocols but did not miss a beat rejoining the team and continuing to act as a leader

 
#30 Bailey Brown; Sr.; M; Katy, Texas

  • Second on the team in total points (31), second in total goals (25), and the only member of the team with a .800-or-above SOG% when shooting at least 30 times
  • Tied for ninth in the conference in total points
  • Team captain for the Aztecs, a confident-yet-poised leader on both sides of the ball and MPSF Defensive Player of the Week (March 29), Offensive Player of the Week (March 15) (only MPSF player to earn BOTH awards this season)
  • Fourth in the conference for total draw controls, 67th in the nation for draw controls per matchup, second-highest per game draw control average in the conference
