INDIANAPOLIS -- The San Diego State women's golf team earned its seventh consecutive trip to the NCAA Regionals, which was announced Wednesday by the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Committee. The Aztecs, who received an at-large bid, will compete in the NCAA Stanford Regional, May 10-12, at Stanford Golf Club in Stanford, Calif.

SDSU garnered the No. 12 seed out of 18 teams in the regional for its seventh straight postseason berth, 10th in the last 11 regionals (2020 season was canceled) and 17th overall since the regional format was inaugurated in 1993.

San Diego State will be joined on the par-71, 6,269-yard Stanford layout in order of seed by Wake Forest, Oklahoma State, USC, Virginia Tech, Stanford, Arizona, Florida, Northwestern, Iowa State, Denver, TCU, Pepperdine, San José State, New Mexico State, Cal Poly, Sacramento State and Navy. The field also includes six individuals who will compete for the right to advance to the NCAA Championships.

The NCAA Stanford Regional will be contested with 18 holes each of the three days following a practice round on Sunday, May 9. The top six squads and three lowest individuals not on those teams from each regional will advance to the NCAA Championships, scheduled for May 21-26 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.

This year marks the Aztecs' 13th trip to a regional event as a team and represents the 17th time the program has sent at least one golfer to the regional round since the format was adopted in 1993.

SDSU's best five finishes at regionals have all come the last five appearances under 10th-year head coach Leslie Spalding. In 2015, San Diego State landed in the 11th spot at the Entrada at Snow Canyon Resort in St. George, Utah, before finishing 12th the following year at Stanford Golf Course. The Aztecs recorded another 11th-place finish at the Lubbock Regional in Texas in 2017, before tying for seventh in 2018 at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco. Despite recording its highest placement ever in a regional event, SDSU fell one stroke short of forcing a playoff to determine the sixth and final spot from the San Francisco Regional to the NCAA Championships. San Diego State also took 12th in 2019 at Suncadia Resort's Tumble Creek Course in Cle Elum, Wash.

The Aztecs, who are still seeking for their first-ever national championship appearance as a team, are currently ranked 47th by Golfstat and 51st by Golfweek.
