COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State's Wyatt Hendrie (Palmdale, Calif.) has been named Mountain West Player of the Week for his key role in helping the Aztecs sweep a three-game series from Dixie State, April 24-25, at Tony Gwynn Stadium.

With the selection, Hendrie garnered his second conference weekly accolade of the year, giving the SDSU baseball program eight such awards this season, along with Jaden Fein (Four times - Feb. 22-March 8, April 19) and Mike Jarvis (March 29), while Troy Melton was named MW Pitcher of Week on March 8.

In three games vs. Dixie State, Hendrie batted .500 with one double, three RBIs and three runs scored, propelling the Aztecs to their ninth series victory in the first 10 weeks of the season.

Hendrie led the team in batting average (.500), hits (5), total bases (6), slugging percentage (.600) and on-base percentage (.545) while sharing the top spot in RBIs (3). The SDSU catcher was also 4-for-5 on the weekend with runners in scoring position and went 2-for-2 in RBI opportunities with men on third and less than two outs.

Hendrie was the hero of Saturday's doubleheader nightcap, smacking the game-winning single in the bottom of the 10th inning that gave the Aztecs a 5-4 victory. Earlier in game one, he drove in a run with a base hit in the first and later singled and scored in the sixth, as SDSU ultimately prevailed by an 8-7 margin.

Hendrie came back in Sunday's series finale with a 2-for-4 performance, highlighted by a run-scoring double in the seventh, as the Aztecs rolled to a 9-1 triumph. He also finished the weekend with a clean 1.000 fielding percentage, committing no errors in 28 chances. In addition, the Palmdale, California, native threw out a would-be base stealer in the fourth inning of game three.

Entering this week, Hendrie finds himself among the Mountain West leaders in several statistical categories, including home runs (2nd – 7), RBIs (2nd – 35), runs scored T-2nd – 38), on-base percentage (6th – .458), walks (T-6th – 16) and slugging percentage (8th – .583). He also tops the conference with 241 putouts as of April 26 and has thrown out nine attempted base stealers, which is tied for third in the league.

A 10th-round selection in the 2019 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs, Hendrie was added to the watch list for the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award on April 1.

Hendrie and the Aztecs return to the diamond this weekend for a three-game road series at Nevada, April 30-May 1.
