BOISE, Idaho – The San Diego State women's tennis team stumbled in a close dual match with Utah State as the Aggies scratched out a 4-3 win in the teams' neutral site match at Appleton Tennis Center in Boise, Idaho.
In doubles play, Utah State took the first point of the day. The Aggies' Renata Lombera and Carolina Millan topped senior Tamara Arnold and junior Alicia Melosch 6-4 and Utah State's Annaliese County and Gabrielle Dekkers bested freshman Alexandria Von Tersch Pohrer and sophomore Cécile Morin 6-2 on court three.
The Aggies took the second point of the day with a win on court two to open singles play, as Zara Ryan topped Pitts 7-5, 6-3 on court two. Morin put the first points for the Aztecs on the board with her 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 victory over Lisa Kung on court four. With the score at 2-1, the Aggies added their third win of the day with a No. 6 singles victory from Lillian Okamoto over Pohrer, 6-2, 7-6 (3).
With the match in close grips for the Aggies, the Aztecs stormed back with wins from Arnold and Nadozie on courts one and three, respectively. Arnold came back from a second-set loss to take No. 1 singles victory over Millan 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-1. Nadozie did not let a first-set setback shake her as she topped Lombera 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.
The match came down to the No. 5 singles contest of Alicia Melosch and Utah State's Anneliese County with a 3-3 tied dual match score. County took the first set, 7-5, but Melosch came storming back with a tie-break set win 7-6 (3). Melosch's momentum did not continue into the third set as County closed out the match with a 6-4 win to bring home the match and dual-match victory for the Aggies.

Today's match was the first to have more than three matches forced to play three sets this season for the Aztecs.
