Aztecs Finish First in Four Events in Day One of LBSU Invite

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Aztec track and field team wrapped up day one of the Long Beach Invitational on Friday. SDSU took first place in four of the six events they competed in and saw five Aztecs notch personal bests while competing against USC, UC Irvine and Long Beach State.
 
Jordyn Bryant took first place in both the discus throw and the shot put. She had a toss of 47-11.75 in the shot put, four and half feet further than her closest competitor. In the discus, her toss was 171-4. This was Bryant's fourth first place finish in the shot put and second in the discus.
 
For the second week in a row, Nyjari McNeil won the 800m. She finished with a season best time of 2:10.00, just ahead of SDSU's Lauren Harper who ran a 2:12.87. Alex Lomeli also set a PR with a time of 2:14.71. 
 
Jessica Kain won the 1,500m, finishing in 4:31.33, just 0.15 seconds off her PR. This was Kain's third time coming in first this season and second time in the 1,500m. Emily Burd came in second with a personal best time of 4:35.79.

Both Felicia Crenshaw and Cari Acosta had new personal bests in the hammer throw and Crenshaw's throw of 165-4 was good for ninth all-time.
