Aztecs Compete Against UC San Diego

CHULA VISTA, Calif. – The Aztec rowing team competed against UC San Diego Friday morning at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center, racing in ideal conditions on Otay Lake.
 
The Tritons, who were competing in their first race as a DI program, edged the Aztecs in both races. UC San Diego's first varsity eight finished in 6:56.6 and SDSU came in at 7:06.8.
 
In the other race, the Aztecs' first varsity four crossed the finish line in 8:24.2 while UCSD finished in 7:50.9. The Tritons also raced their 2V4+ and 3V4.
 
The schools were competing for the Patty Wyatt Perpetual Trophy, which the Aztecs had won the three previous meetings.
 
THE NOTE
The race took place on the same body of water than the U.S. men's and women's national teams trained January-March.

UP NEXT
The Aztecs will be back in action in Chula Vista next Saturday going against UCLA and USD.
