Kaitlin Heri Named MW Field Athlete of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Pole vaulter Kaitlin Heri was named the Mountain West Field Athlete of the Week. the conference office announced Tuesday.

Heri took first place and cleared 14' at the Mountain West Challenge last Wednesday. She became the fifth Aztec pole vaulter to clear 14 feet and currently has the best mark in the Mountain West and is tied for the 10th best vault in the nation.

Heri followed up that performance by winning the Triton Invitational at UC San Diego Saturday, clearing 13-06.25. Heri has taken first place in three of SDSU's four meets and took second in the other.

Heri is the second Aztec to win Mountain West Athlete of the Week honors this season. Maya Brosch (400m hurdles) won two weeks ago.

This is Heri's second weekly honor. She won April 29, 2019 after clearing 13-11.00 at the Robinson Invitational.

The Aztecs are back in action this weekend at Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Invitational.
