SAN DIEGO – Sarah Broacha, who anchors the San Diego State women's soccer back line, has been named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending April 11. The announcement was made at the conference office on Monday afternoon.

In a pair of wins over the weekend, 1-0 at Boise State and 3-1 at Nevada, the Pleasanton, Calif., native was on the field for a total 165 minutes and led a defense which limited its two opponents to eight total shots, two shots on goal and just a single goal.

Broacha was on the field for the entire shutout at Boise State, in which the Broncos attempted five shots and managed just one on goal, and in the 75 minutes she played at Nevada, the Wolf Pack produced just two shots and did not score.

The victories cemented the Aztecs spot in Saturday's game at New Mexico, which will determine the league champion.

This is Broacha's first Player of the Week honor from the Mountain West this season and the first of her Aztec career.
