GREENSBORO, N.C.— San Diego State senior swimmer Klara Thormalm has qualified to swim in three events at the NCAA Championships from March 17-20. The national championship event will take place at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.

Thormalm was invited to swim in the 100 breast with the 15th fastest time in the NCAA this year with a season-best time of 59.14. The Vetlanda, Sweden native swam the mark in the 100 breast preliminary heats of the 2021 Mountain West Championships, leading to her individual title in the event with a finals swim of 1:00.19. With her top swim, Thormalm won the 100-breast MW individual title for the second consecutive season.

With her spot solidified in the 100 breast at the NCAA championships, Thormalm will also swim in the 50 free and 200 breast based on her NCAA 'B' cut marks throughout the season. She enters the competition 44th in the nation in the 200 breast with a time of 2:10.95, a time she earned in her second-place effort in the finals at the Mountain West Championships.  Her 50 free time of 22.75 sits tied-for-64th among collegiate swimmers in the NCAA, recorded when she earned the top time in the qualifying swims of the event at the 2021 conference championships.

With all swimming qualifiers announced today, the Aztecs wait to see if Thormalm will be joined by any SDSU divers at the event. All qualifying divers will be announced March 13, after the conclusion of the NCAA's five zone championship meets.
