Aztec Storylines

  • The San Diego State lacrosse team returns to The Mesa looking for the program's first win in March 2021. They host first-time opponent Coastal Carolina Saturday, March 27 at Aztec Lacrosse Field. The opening draw is set for 1 p.m. PT.

  • Live stats and streams will be available for the game versus the Chants and are linked on GoAztecs.com.

  • The game between the Aztecs and the Chanticleers marks the first meeting between the two young programs, as the Aztecs played their first game in 2012 while the Chanticleers' program began in 2013.

  • LAST TIME OUT PART 1: The San Diego State lacrosse team battled back from an early 6-0 deficit to outscore the University of Denver Pioneers 10-8 in the final 37:34 of play but fell to the No.22-ranked team in the nation Friday, March 12, 14-10, at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium in Denver, Colo.

  • LAST TIME OUT PART 2: The Aztecs stumbled in a matchup at the University of Colorado, Boulder 14-5 Sunday, March 14 inside the Buffs' indoor practice facility in Boulder, Colo.

  • San Diego State lacrosse redshirt senior Katy Sharretts and senior Bailey Brown were named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Players of the Week Monday, March 15. Sharretts earned the defensive player of the week honor as she was a force to be reckoned with in the Scarlet and Black's trip to Colorado, facing 56 shots in total over the weekend and collecting 28 saves (.500 save percentage for the weekend). Brown was named offensive player of the week for her well-rounded efforts in Colorado, totaling four goals, three ground balls, two caused turnovers, and 12 draw controls.

  • The Aztecs continued to hold high ranks on the MPSF's conference statistical leaderboards. Brown is fourth in the MPSF with 30 ground balls through seven games, averaging 4.29/game. Tan sits third in the caused turnovers category with seven so far this season, averaging one per game. She also is third in the conference in made free position goals, totaling six on the season and averaging .86 per game. Resnick is tied-for-fifth in the league for total points on the season with 11 goals and seven assists as well as fifth in the MPSF for assists this season, averaging one per game played.

  • The Aztecs need to get back to their sweet spot for winning matchups-- holding the game's lead at halftime and finishing the game with more shots taken than their competitors. The Scarlet and Black are undefeated this season when leading at the intermission, when the team is leading in total shots, as well as when the Aztecs collect more ground balls than their opponent.

  • The Aztecs' goalkeeping corps lead the MPSF in saves per game with 87 throughout the season for an average of 12.43 saves a game. Sharretts has had four games this season with a save percentage over .500 and sits with a .444 save percentage in 2021.

  • After a 13-day break from competition, the Aztecs will now play six games in the next 29 days before heading to Fresno, Calif. for the 2021 MPSF Championships. Both of the Scarlet and Black's conference games lie in the compacted schedule, heading to Davis on April 11 and hosting Fresno State on April 17. The standings after those two games will determine seeding for the conference tournament and will decide which two programs play in the semifinals on April 29 (No. 2 vs. No. 3), with the winner of that matchup heading to play the No.1 seed in the championship game on May 1.
