Aztecs Open 2021 Season Saturday at No. 16 USC

SAN DIEGO – The Aztec rowing team kicks off their 2021 season at No. 16 USC Saturday morning. The Aztecs will race their first and second varsity eight in addition to their varsity four beginning at 9:20 a.m. in the Port of Los Angeles (Wilmington, Calif.).

This will be the first of seven competitions for the Aztecs, who only were able to compete once in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The SDSU first varsity eight is a veteran group anchored by seven seniors, including coxswain Hannah Broadland, a two-time All-AAC first team selection and 2020 CRCA All-American nominee.

The Aztecs' second varsity eight, coxed by junior Madison Fisk, features three upperclassmen and four freshmen. The first varsity four boat has four freshman and one sophomore. Full lineups are listed below.

The races will take place in the East Basin Channel of the Port of Los Angeles, racing the 2000 meters from the southwest to the northeast. Temperatures are forecasted to be in the high 50's with western winds of 10-15 miles per hours. No spectators are allowed.

Results will be posted to GoAztecs.com once they become available.
