Brown and Sharretts Named MPSF Players of the Week

SAN DIEGO – San Diego State lacrosse redshirt senior Katy Sharretts and senior Bailey Brown were named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Players of the Week, the conference offices announced Monday. Sharretts earned the defensive player of the week honor while Brown was named the league's best offensive player for the period ending March 14.  

Brown had another outstanding weekend on the offensive and defensive end of the ball for the Aztecs. Against No. 22 Denver, the Katy, Texas native totaled a hat trick on four shots, nine draw controls, and a caused turnover. In the Aztecs' matchup with RV Colorado, Brown had a goal, three ground ball pickups, a caused turnover, and three draw controls.  

Sharretts was a force to be reckoned with in the Scarlet and Black's trip to Colorado, facing 56 shots in total over the weekend and collecting 28 saves (.500 save percentage for the weekend). In the matchup with No. 22 Denver, Sharretts had an incredible day in the goal, earning 14 saves on 28 attempts (SOG) for a .500 save percentage while adding two ground balls.  Against RV Colorado, the Bel Air, Md. Native snagged 14 saves on 28 attempts for a .500 save percentage, her fourth game this season with a save ratio at or over .500. For the year, Sharretts has a .444 save percentage with 84 recorded saves on 265 shots faced.   

The Aztecs have a 13-day break from competition, next meeting the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers in San Diego on March 27. The opening draw is set for 1 p.m. PT at Aztec Lacrosse Field.
