FRESNO, Calif. – The San Diego State women's soccer team took a 1-0 lead early in the second half of its game at Fresno State, but later in the half the Bulldogs scored twice in less than two minutes and held on to hand the Aztecs (3-1-0) their first defeat of the season.
After a scoreless first 45 minutes, Rachelle Elve played a throughball, which Veronica Avalos touched onto the foot of Chloe Frisch who put the finishing touch on the play to give the Aztecs a 1-0 advantage at the 51:51 mark.
San Diego State maintained its lead until 77:45, when the Bulldogs found the equalizer in an unassisted goal from 25 yards out off the foot of Robyn McCarthy.
Less than two minutes later, at the 79:35 mark, Fresno State took the lead on a goal from Lorena Montanes.
The Bulldogs (3-0-0) made the lead stand up in the final 10 minutes to hand SDSU its first loss of the season.
Frisch look a team and game-high six shots and Alexa Madueno made four saves.
