RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – The San Diego State women's golf team sits in third place at the competitive Lamkin Invitational after play was suspended toward the end of the second round on Monday due to darkness. Competing in their first event and only home tournament of the season, the Aztecs completed both of their rounds at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., on the par-72, 6,318-yard course layout.

SDSU is at 18-over-par 594 after rounds of 13-over 301 and 5-over 293, and only trails USC (+9) and UCLA (+15) in the 11-team tournament. Colorado (+20) and TCU (+22) round out the top 5, while Washington State and New Mexico are a distant sixth at +42. Three teams - Hawai'i, Long Beach State and UC Irvine - failed to finish before the event was suspended at 5:45 p.m. PT.

San Diego State senior Sara Kjellker is tied with two others for the lead at 4-under 140, thanks to a 6-under 66 in the second round. The 66 tied the lowest round of her career and tied for the lowest round of the day.

After opening with a 74 (+2) in the first round, Kjellker caught fire in the second, recording six birdies without a bogey. Kjellker started out with back-to-back birdies on the par-4, 385-yard first hole and the par-3, 154-yard second hole. Following a stretch of six straight pars, the two-time first-team all-Mountain West selection birdied the next three holes around the turn, including the par-5, 472-yard ninth hole, the par-4, 391-yard 10th and the par-4, 355-yard 11th. After five consecutive pars, Kjellker added her sixth birdie of the round on the par-4, 17th before narrowly missing a putt for a birdie on the par-5, 474-yard 18th. Kjellker joins fellow co-leaders Allisen Corpuz (USC) and Emma Spitz (UCLA) in the final pairing at 8:44 a.m. PT Tuesday.

Playing as an individual in her first career collegiate event, freshman Anna Lina Otten posted back-to-back 73s and is in a tie for seventh at 2-over 144. In the opening round, Otten recorded a birdie and 15 pars against a pair of bogeys. In the second round, Otten overcame a double bogey on the par-5, 519-yard third hole by going 1-under over her final 10 holes with three birdies and two bogeys.

Another freshman playing in her first collegiate tournament, Andrea Gomez sits in a tie for 15th after a 75 and 74 at 5-over 149. Gomez birdied the par-5, 510-yard 12th hole in the first round, offsetting three bogeys. Her second round was up-and-down with four birdies, five bogeys and a double bogey.

Bernice Olivares Ilas, meanwhile, is tied for 20th at 7-over 151 after posting a 73 and a 78. Ilas came up with three birdies against four bogeys for her 73 but couldn't get things going in the second 18 with six bogeys and 12 pars.

Ella Adams (79-75) is tied for 26th at 10-over 154, April Ranches (83-78) is tied for 39th at 17-over 161 and Sammy Lee (91-83) is 58th at 30-over 174 while competing as an individual.

The Aztecs are back on the course on Tuesday morning, beginning at 7:33 a.m. for their two individuals and 8 a.m. for the starting five.
