SAN DIEGO – The Aztec women's basketball team (6-15, 4-11) plays at Boise State (12-7, 9-7) this Friday (1 p.m. PT) and Sunday (12 p.m. PT). Both games will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.
 
Aztec Notes
• The Aztecs split their recent series with Fresno State, winning the first game 79-77 before falling in the finale 82-61.
• SDSU and the Mountain West announced the Aztecs will host Utah State March 4 prior to heading to the Mountain West Tournament (March 7-10). This is the only remaining postponed game, the Aztecs had yet to make up.
• In SDSU's win over Fresno State, they scored a season-high 79 points and saw both Sophia Ramos (22) and Mercedes Staples (20) score at least 20 points. Téa Adams, the team's lone senior, scored the game-winning shot with five seconds left on an up-and-under driving lay-in.
• Prior to last Sunday's game, Téa Adams was honored for Senior Day. The 5'9" guard from Kirkland, Wash. has over 900 points, 240 assists and 120 steals in her career. This season she is averaging career-highs in points (10.7), assists (3.6), steals (1.3) and field goal (.452) and three-point percentage (.359).
• Kamaria Gipson had a career-high 11 rebounds in Sunday's game vs. Fresno State and is averaging 9.7 rebounds per game over the past three games.
• Last week, junior Sophia Ramos became the 22nd Aztec to score 1,000 career points, the 13th to accomplish it in three years or less and just the 10th Aztec to reach the mark in 70 or fewer games. She had missed 10 weeks earlier this season due to injury.
• Sophomore Isabela Hernandez enters the Boise State series second all-time in career three-point percentage. She is 43-for-109, good for 39.4 percent, just barely behind Charley Murray's (1998-99) 39.6 percent.
• Over the past three games, the Aztecs are averaging 18.3 assists and just 9.3 turnovers per game.
• The Aztecs have had 11 different players score at least 10 points in a game and have had six different players lead the team (or tie for the lead) in scoring.
• The Aztecs had a team GPA of 3.19 in the 2020 fall semester and had six players record a 3.40 GPA or better.
 
Opponent Notebook (Boise State)
• Boise State is 12-7 on the year and 9-7 (5th place) in the Mountain West.
• They have won the last four Mountain West tournament titles.
• They are 8-3 at home on the year.
• They are coming off a sweep of Utah State. Prior to that, they split their two-game series with UNLV and Nevada.
• Jade Loville is averaging 16.8 points per game, third most in the conference.
• Mallory McGwire averages 11.9 points and 8.7 rebounds per game, second most in the Mountain West.
• Freshman Mary Kay Naro averages 5.5 assists per game, second most in the conference.
• The Broncos have the top field goal percentage defense in the conference (.377).
• Boise State also leads the conference and is fifth in the nation in blocks per game (6.5), anchored by Abby Must (1.7 bpg) and McGwire (1.4 bpg).
• The Broncos only make 4.3 three-pointers per game and shoot just 26.1 percent from deep.
• Head coach Gordy Presnell is in his 16th year at Boise State. He has over 300 wins at Boise State and over 700 in his 34-year career.
 
Series Notes
• Boise State leads the all-time series 10-8
• The Bulldogs have won the last six meetings and nine of the last 10.
• The Aztecs are 2-6 all-time in Boise and haven't won there since 2013.
• Last year's second meeting went to overtime, a 69-67 Boise State win inside Viejas Arena.
• Their first meeting was December 20, 2005, a 54-51 Aztec win. This was the only time they placed before Boise State joined the Mountain West in the 2011-12 season.
