LA QUINTA, Calif. -- Seniors Puwit Anupansuebsai (Nakhon Phanom, Thailand) and Zihao Jin (Beijing/Rancho Bernardo HS) each are in the top 10 after the suspended first round of The Prestige to lead the ninth-ranked San Diego State men's golf team Monday at the par-71, 7,100-yard Greg Norman Course at PGA West. Only three golfers were left on the course before play was suspended due to darkness with the Aztecs all completing their round. EDIT: First round results are now official as of 7:18 p.m. PT.

Anupansuebsai, the reigning Mountain West Men's Golfer of the Year, had a bogey-free 3-under-par-68 to pace SDSU, tying for fifth on the day. After eight straight pars, Anupansuebsai birdied the par-4, 359-yard ninth hole to get into red numbers. He then birdied both par 5s on the back nine, including the 566-yard 12th and the 537-yard 16th.

Jin, meanwhile, is tied for seventh following a 2-under 69. Jin balanced out bogeys on the par-4, 470-yard second and the par-4, 461-yard 18th with four birdies in between, including three in a four-hole stretch on the back nine (12th; par-3, 216-yard 13th and the par-4, 431-yard 15th). Jin also birdied the longest hole on the course in the par-5, 617-yard eighth hole.

Arizona State's David Puig leads at -7, while Iowa State's Lachlan Barker, Pepperdine's Joey Vrzich and UC Davis' Jacob Westberg are three shots back in second and one shot ahead of Anupansuebsai and Arizona's Chase Sienkiewicz (Arizona) at -4.

Despite the solid outings by Anupansuebsai and Jin, however, SDSU is 15th out of 24 teams at 6-over 290. No. 3 Arizona State leads after 18 holes at 8-under 276 with No. 5 Pepperdine (-3), North Carolina (-2), No. 11 Arizona (-1) and No. 17 SMU (+1) rounding out the top 5. San Diego State is one of 10 teams within five shots of the top 5.

Senior Steve Sugimoto (San Diego/Rancho Bernardo HS) shot a 4-over 75 and is tied for 83rd, rebounding from a quadruple bogey on the par-4, 481-yard sixth hole by recording pars on each of the final 10 holes. Sugimoto also had two birdies - par-3, 140-yard fourth and the long eighth - and a double bogey on par-3, 181-yard seventh.

Junior Youssef Guezzale (San Diego/La Jolla HS) (7-over 78) and junior Joey Moore (Billings, Mont.) (8-over 79) are within one shot of each other, tied for 110th and 114th, respectively.

The Prestige continues Tuesday with the second round, as San Diego State tees off from the 10th hole in the afternoon wave with USC and North Carolina once again.

Freshmen Jack Heath (Charlotte, N.C.) and Liam Koeneke (Del Mar, Calif./Torrey Pines HS), meanwhile, also made the trip and competed at the Prestige Individual Tournament Coral Mountain Golf Club on the par-72, 7,145-yard layout. Heath shot a 1-under 71 and is tied for 10th, while Koeneke's 4-over 76 has him tied for 38th. The duo tees of their second round at 8:20 a.m. PT Tuesday.
