SAN DIEGO – San Diego State head women's tennis coach Peter Mattera announced the Aztec Women's Tennis 2021 schedule today. The Scarlet and Black's 2021 slate includes 18 matches, seven against non-conference opponents and 11 with Mountain West foes.

The Aztecs open with nine home events in Aztec Tennis Center. To kick off the 2021 season, SDSU welcomes Cal State Fullerton and Hawai'I for back-to-back dual matches, Feb. 20 and Feb. 21. Both are slated to start at noon. The Scarlet and Black saw action against both opponents in last year's shortened spring season as the Aztecs topped Fullerton 4-0 and fell to Hawai'i 4-3.

A week later, UC Irvine makes the trip down the coast to The Mesa for a noon match with the Aztecs, Feb. 28. The two programs last met Jan. 21, 2018, where the Aztecs topped the Anteaters 7-0.

SDSU starts March play welcoming cross-town opponent University of San Diego to Aztec Tennis Center. The Aztecs are 9-10 all-time against the Toreros and were slated for a March 15, 2020 matchup before the coronavirus pandemic shut down all SDSU Athletics competitions on March 12, 2020.

The Aztecs then take on the Gonzaga Bulldogs on March 11 for their first dual match against the program since Feb. 1, 2008. SDSU won that match, 7-0.

After an 8-day break from competition, SDSU rounds out their non-conference competition on The Mesa with duals against Long Beach State and the University of Oregon on March 19 and 22, respectively. The Aztecs and Sharks met in the shortened 2020 spring season Feb. 8, as the Aztecs fell to their fellow Southern California-foe 4-1. The dual with the Ducks is the first between the two programs since at least 1999.

For the safety of Mountain West programs, the conference has changed how conference opponents will play throughout the 2021 season. Instead of traditional one-off duals with MW foes, multiple conference opponents will travel to one conference institution site and play two matches. Each program will play one neutral site and one true away match when on the road, or two home matches when the program is the host of the pod.

San Diego State first welcomes Fresno State, UNLV and Nevada to The Mesa March 27-28. The Aztecs will see action against Fresno State March 27 and Nevada March 28 with both dual matches set to begin at noon.

The Aztecs then head to Boise State with Utah State and UNLV, competing in a neutral site match with the Aggies April 2 and a match with the Broncos April 3. Both duals are scheduled to start at 10 a.m. MT.

The Scarlet and Black return home for their two final home duals of the season, welcoming New Mexico, Air Force and UNLV to America's Finest City. The Aztecs take on New Mexico April 10 and Air Force April 11, both starting at noon.

SDSU then heads back on the road to Colorado State with Wyoming and UNLV, taking on the Cowgirls in a neutral-site match April 17 and the Rams April 18. Both duals start at 10 a.m. MT.

The Aztecs' final pod of the season is at UNLV with San José State. The Spartans and Aztecs are scheduled to compete April 24 at 1 p.m. MT and after spending the season traveling together, SDSU and UNLV will meet for a match on April 25 at 1 p.m. MT.

Current scheduling for the Aztecs concludes when they travel across town to the University of San Diego, April 30 for a 1:30 p.m. match-up.

Due to city, county, and state coronavirus guidance, fans are not allowed at Aztec Tennis Center for home matches this season. Scheduling for the program is subject to changes to comply with conference and NCAA COVID-19 protocols.
