SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's basketball team (2-6, 0-2) heads to Reno for their first two games of 2021. The Aztecs will take on the Wolf Pack (4-3, 0-2) on Thursday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m. Both games will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.

Aztec Notes
• The Aztecs will be returning from a 17-day layoff after having their home series against UNLV (Dec. 31 and Jan. 2) postponed due to COVID-19 contact tracing protocols.
• The Aztecs lost a pair of non-conference games before the Christmas break, falling to UC Irvine 66-55 on Dec. 19 and Cal Poly 73-63 on Dec. 21.
• SDSU was playing shorthanded and saw a number of breakout performances from some young players. Bailee Chynoweth hit five three-pointers and led the Aztecs with 15 points against UCI, Talia Sireni scored a career-high 10 points against Cal Poly and while Flo Vinerte chipped in nine points and six rebounds.
• Mercedes Staples has scored in double-digits in five straight games while leading the team in rebounding and minutes. Over the last five games, she is averaging 12.2 points and 9.0 rebounds. She is second in the Mountain West in total rebounds and third in rebounds per game.
• Téa  Adams, the Aztecs' lone senior, has scored in double-digits six of the last seven games and is leading the team in field goal percentage (.551), three-point percentage (.588) and assists (3.6 per game).
• Kamaria Gipson earned her first two career starts before the holiday break. The 6'3" freshmen center is averaging 6.3 rebounds per game and has a team-high 16 offensive rebounds.
• SDSU is averaging just 14.6 personal fouls a game, the second lowest in the conference and 30th-best in the nation.
• The Aztecs have made more free throws (102) than their opponents have attempted (99).
• SDSU announced they will be the newest member of the Jordan Brand family beginning at the start of the 2021-22 season. SDSU is just the ninth women's basketball program in the Jordan lineup.
• Following their two games at Nevada, SDSU will play the next four games at home, hosting Utah State (Jan. 14 & 16) and Air Force (Jan. 22 and 24).

Opponent Notebook (Nevada)
• Nevada is 4-3 on the season and 0-2 in conference.
• They were swept at home by New Mexico last week, losing 88-69 and 78-67.
• Da'Ja Hamilton leads the Wolf Pack in scoring (14.1) and assists (3.7).
• Megan Ormiston is second on the team in scoring (11.8) and leads the team in rebounding (6.5).
• LaPraisjah Johnson and Amaya West also average double-digits (10.3 for both), although West has missed the last four games.
• Nevada is 17th in the nation in free throw percentage (.789), led by LaPraisjah Johnson, who is shooting 94.7 percent from the line.
• Head coach Amanda Levens is in her fourth season) at Nevada. Prior to coming to Reno, she was the associate head coach at Arizona State (2012-17).
